In his first film as an action hero, Taylor Lautner is confronted by all kinds of situations. Abduction is the story of Nathan, a high school student who, while researching lost people on the Internet for a school project, discovers he is on the website. Nathan and his friend Karen (Lily Collins) then find themselves in a real-life international spy drama as one by one the people in Nathan’s life are killed.
On the Run
What in the world is going on? All Nathan knows is that the people he thought were his parents were not. So, who is he?
From the time he was little, he was taught to wrestle, box, and fight, and now he knows why. He was being prepared for this situation. He was being prepped for the time when his true identity would be revealed and he would need all the resources he could muster to stay alive.
But he is not doing this on his own. Karen is smack in the middle of everything and they set off together on a dangerous journey to find the truth, and to stay alive.
With the CIA and vicious killers on their trail, they are unsure of whom to trust. Who has their best interests at heart?
The Truth
When Nathan learns the truth about his biological mother and father, things fall into place, but to be honest, there are still some questions for the viewers.
Lautner tackles the rock-em-sock-em scenes wonderfully and as they say on the bonus features, he could have a career as an action hero.
The DVD
Bonus features on the DVD contain some behind the scenes looks at the making of the film. There are also features about the cast and the story.
Lautner discusses how he first heard of this story and instantly knew this would be the next movie he would make. From the start he was caught up in the story of a boy who discovers his whole life has been made up and he sets out to find out who he is and why he is in this situation.
Review of Abduction
This is not the best movie of the year but it is definitely not the worst one either. There are some good scenes and Lautner definitely proves he is worthy of everything that was asked of him. He even took on some stunts himself, literally throwing himself into the scenes.
The story is interesting and the characters weave together to form an intricate network which makes it enjoyable to watch. Others in the film besides the two main characters include Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs.
