This machine lives up to the hype and advertising surrounding the latest vacuum from Dyson.

All vacuums are not created equal. Dyson’s DC41 Animal is one of those machines that really does what the manufacturer claims it will do.

I have never used a Dyson vacuum before, although the ball design has always intrigued me. I’ve always wanted to try it. And now I have one. The latest model, the DC41 Animal is a good, solid hard-working machine.

Ease of Use of the Dyson DC41

First, let me address the ball. It makes turning the vacuum head as easy as turning your wrist. Yes, you read correctly. Just a turn of the wrist and the vacuum head turns, which makes it that much easier to vacuum around the bottom of my round table.

Turning on the machine takes just a push of a button, and when you’re vacuuming hard floors and don’t want the brushes to spin and potentially scratch wood flooring, simply press another button and you’ll have just the suction without the brushes.

One of the biggest plusses I discovered immediately was the length of the cord (35 feet). This thing is long. It allows me to plug in the vacuum in one room and continue to use it in the next room. That’s what I call handy.

And the vacuum is much lighter in weight than my old unit, although that does not stop it from digging deep into carpet.

The Power of the DC41 Animal

This machine was designed especially for homes with animals, because it provides an enormous amount of suction to dig deep into carpets for animal hair. We have a bird that spreads some fine feathers. And guess what? Everything was suctioned out of the carpet – dirt, dust, hair and feathers.

My home was not exceptionally dirty, so it was a good test of this vacuum. Just how much could it pick up? I was in shock. I honestly could not imagine that much junk in my carpet. It was both exciting and heartbreaking at the same time. Could my carpet really have been that dirty even though it was recently cleaned by a professional carpet cleaner? Yes. The proof is in the clear collection bin.

To me, another great feature is the fact that this vacuum does not require bags. Everything is sucked up into a plastic bin that is easily taken off and emptied into the garbage with the push of a button. After all these years of buying vacuum bags, I can now say I have joined the green age with a bagless vacuum.

Review of the Dyson DC41 Animal – The Pros and Cons

If you haven’t already discovered this, let me tell you in no uncertain terms. I really like this vacuum. It is easy to use and really sucks up everything in the carpet and on the floors. With an exceptionally long cord, it makes moving around the house easy.

The company calls their suction “Radial Root Cyclone technology “to maximize suction power.” According to Dyson, “Improved flow efficiency reduces turbulence and preserves air pressure, so more microscopic particles are extracted by the inner cyclones.” This translates to super power.

The DC41 provides strong suction on carpets and hard floors and is easy to maneuver. And it captures allergens, which is very important to our house where we suffer year round from allergies to dust. The company claims it “captures microscopic particles such as pollen, mold and bacteria.” while expelling cleaner air. To us that is a big selling point.

The Dyson DC41 Animal comes with tools to clean in tight places, steps, crevices, etc. and you can take it out to vacuum your car. The vacuum also comes with a five year warranty on parts and labor.

If you need proof that this vacuum does what it claims to do, simply look at the photo with this article. It is all the junk that was suctioned up from my seemingly clean carpet with just one use. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, but in this case, the proof is in the bin.

I am a little disappointed that not all of the attachments can be stored on the machine. And, like every other vacuum I’ve tried, it is noisy. (I would love someone to invent totally silent vacuums, leaf blowers, and dentist drills.) That said, I would have to rate this five stars. I am amazed that it has entirely lived up to its claims. For anyone with animals and/or allergies, I highly recommend this vacuum.
