Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic film, however there are a lot of things about the dwarfs that the public doesn't know.

According to Walt Disney, “The seven dwarfs, we knew, were ‘naturals’ for the medium of our pictures. In them we could instill boundless humor, not only as to their physical appearances, but in their mannerisms, personalities, voices and actions.”

The Seven Dwarfs

The Dwarfs are iconic. Since 1937 they have been beloved characters for several generations.

Doc often gets his words confused. He wears glasses and has a hard time with decisions. He also has a hard time with his hands. Doc doesn't know what to do with them. He's always fidgeting with them.

Happy is always happy. He sees the glass as half full. Happy has full, bushy eyebrows that flop around. This little fellow is the epitome of joy.

Grumpy is grouchy, but Snow White is able to bring out the softer side of this little fellow. When the Dwarfs discover the trouble at their cottage with Snow White and the witch, Grumpy is the first one to jump into action.

Bashful is shy and often says “Oh gosh.” He twists his foot around his leg and plays with his beard and he blushes around Snow White.

Sneezy need a good antihistamine. He is a very loyal friend, even though he always sneezes at the most inopportune times. At one point, in order to keep him from sneezing, the other Dwarfs tie his beard around his nose.

Sleepy is always tired. He could use a shot of caffeine. Sleepy doesn't talk very much, but when he does say something, it is straight forward.

Dopey is child-like and has a sweetness about him. His clothes are too big but he doesn’t mind. He quickly became the public's favorite Dwarf. He is loveable and because he doesn't talk, he has been compared to Harpo Marx.
